Bitcoin miner reviews

The following posts provide insight into miner choice.

They can be arranged into categories depending on hash-rate as well as relevance of their hashrate to the Bitcoin network at overall.

For reasons of simplicity will we establish 3 categories:

  • Plebmining
Envelops all Bitcoin miners with a rather small hashrate. This covers most of the OSMU-miners (Bitaxe series and Nerdminer series). These type of miners have, when compared to the other category, a rather small hash output. Their main strength comes in educational value. Their secondary strength lies in scalability and ongoing development whereby some of these miners can be deployed as an addition to, or as used for, General mining.

  • General mining.
Envelops all Bitcoin miners who still have a decent hashrate and which can be still used for Bitcoin mining. Naturally, in order to successfully mine Bitcoin is a profitability calculation needed (as explained in my Bitcoin mining course: “The Bitcoin Mining Standard“). All miners taken under this category are still relevant for starting to mine Bitcoin. They differ from Plebminers in that these miners use more electricity in order to achieve much higher hashrate. They’re the main workhorses.

  • Outdated
General mining miners who no longer have any relevant share to add to the network and are either too bulky or expensive to use for mining Bitcoin at all.
