Drop shipping is bullshit.
Many twitter and Youtube guru’s proclaim it to be THE GOLDEN TICKET to riches and wealth.
I will tell you it is not.
As a matter of fact, drop shipping is a scam.
Getting involved with drop shipping is scamming yourself out of valuable time.
Drop shipping might work for some.
But it isn’t the golden ticket to financial freedom.
As a matter of fact, you not only dupe yourself but are also being duped by both your customers as well as the whole-sellers you associate with.
Let us clear up some myths:
Drop shipping will make you rich quick.
When drop shipping you act as the middle man between the big whole-seller and the customer.
A decent whole-seller will always verify your credentials.
Refusal of cooperation is a given if you are untrustworthy or lack ANY financial credentials at all.
Now, this can be circumvented through websites like Amazon.
But these websites and other “whole sellers” have a business model about people doing the drop shipping.
I.e. they take money from you for setting up the drop shipping business.
This leaves you with the customer basis.
Unless you are an influencer on social media, chances are slim you can reach out to a lot of people.
Let alone convince your followers to buy “your material”.
At best you have few family and friends whom actively interact with your posts.
And I doubt your aunts, uncles, nephews and friends will regularly buy your products.
Once, maybe (as an incentive like family does).
Frequently? Not a fucking chance.
You’ll need to grow you audience. Do the entire set-up. Market and pitch your product.
Time-consuming activities which will easily take months before ANY cash comes rolling your way.
Not only that. I can guarantee the following:
YOU WILL FAIL MULTIPLE TIMES.
Why? Because you will be juggling with different audiences, products and markets.
You will be losing months of time before you will see some gains.
And markets can change in a matter of weeks.
Chances are you will make losses on what was previously your “Top product”.
In conclusion?
You will be investing TONS of time and effort before any actual sale will be taking place.
You won’t be getting rich as even the biggest success stories are moderate when it concerns income.
Many of the success stories will give numbers not even high enough to replace your regular 9 – 5 (but these numbers will be inflated and projected on yearly basis to make it sound more impressive).
You are a functioning business
As said before, you act as the middle man.
People would love to believe they “own” a company when drop shipping.
The truth?
You are being an underpaid marketeer.
Drop shipping is just that. Marketing.
You do not own the products.
You merely pass them on.
You put products in the spotlight.
You talk and promote in order to get a sale.
THAT is marketing.
Your pay?
Measly for the work you do and the shit you will be getting.
Seeing you act as the middle man, customers WILL come back to you when problems arise.
YOU will have to clean up THEIR shit.
Which implies investing time and resources of your own.
A functioning business goes well beyond mere shipping and selling.
It offers services.
Has different professionals for dealing with different issues and problems.
Drop shipping doesn’t make you a functional business.
Merely a pawn in a big business model YOU have no say in.
If the market, your niche, is bled dry, your business will collapse.
And your side-income stops right there.
Being a business implies adhering to a business model YOU set up.
Being a business implies a strategy which is sustainable and can be upheld for many generations.
So your drop shipping business?
It isn’t a business at all.
Anyone who claims otherwise fails to understand basic economy.
A mere cash grabber and not an entrepreneur.
Those guru’s who claim otherwise?
They get more cash from selling drop shipping courses (and ads) then from drop shipping itself.
So it is in their best interest to keep the fad going on.
What else?
Drop shipping is unsustainable.
What is sustainable is selling products and services of your own hand.
Not only will there be better quality control (which lacks severely with drop shipping).
You will have greater knowledge and experience as you have more direct and intimate knowledge.
Take a very good look at the supposed guru’s and influencers who promote drop shipping.
How many can give impressive receipts?
How many only have drop shipping as their main (side-)business.
Almost none.
Their main sources of income will be from content they created.
It will be from endorsements and other sources.
Let me give you some insider information.
Drop shipping is peanuts.
The business around (and exploiting) drop shipping is MUCH MORE lucrative.
Selling an idea is extremely cost-efficient and lucrative.
This, compared to selling actual products which needs production, marketing, logistics and accounting.
My coaching advice concerning drop shipping?
Stay off!
Unless your whole business is about selling the drop shipping idea.
Take care
