What does it mean to be the higher man?

It is a matter of merit, where actions silence opposition.
It is a matter of integrity, where actions are in accordance to what people expect from you.
It is a matter of dignity, where your actions transcend opinion to do what is right.

Merit, integrity and dignity.
Keywords frequently associated with leadership.

To be a leader means to swallow pride on occasions where dignity is demanded in the face of adversity.
To show dignity in conflict and be “the higher man”, a beacon of integrity.

People scouring the internet will be familiar with the following “meme”:

The man here is a great example of showing dignity and integrity when facing adversity.

Despite being verbally teared to shreds he remains composed and maintains the higher moral ground. He acknowledges the negative and harsh feedback.
His integrity remains in tact DESPITE his dignity being verbally undermined.
The women’s picture of shock is a result of being faced with her own insecurity and realizing she’s inferior to the one she is supposed judging.
The realization she is “the lower man”.

While I do not like to speak about current day politics, another great example is being spread out in the media.

On Februari 4 2020, current president Donald Trump held the State of the Union.
A speech of global importance broadcasted on national television and holding high international esteem.

The actions of Nancy Pelosi, a politician who is currently serving as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, are a PRIME example how a leader SHOULDN’T act.
During the entire SOTU displaying all characteristics of being a Lower Man.

One of her more damning actions was to rip a copy of the speech to pieces on live television showing absolute neglect and lack of dignity and integrity (13:48 time mark in the hyperlink quoted).

The backstory here is an ongoing feud and clashing of opinions whereby merit and dignity take a backseat.
A game of power and greed whereby public interest and well-being is thrown to the side.
As a Speaker of the United States House of Representatives you represent yourself as a qualified leader. The voice of many. It is DEMANDED to be The Higher Man.
To put aside petty opinions and act in the interest of those you are supposed to lead.

During the entire SOTU it became obvious there was a lack of interest, disagreement and pettiness from her side.

As a leader, even when confronted with situations and persons diametrically opposed to what you stand for, it is your duty to uphold standard and be respectable.
Even when this is not reciprocated!
This is the gist of being “The Higher Man” and one of the more difficult aspects to being a leader.

In the pick-up community this is called “holding frame”.
Leadership can thus be equated to “holding frame”.
There are tons of examples and stories of (supposed) pick-up artists holding frames while being so-called “shit tested”.
The dynamic remains the same.

The pick-up artist, or leader, must remain steadfast and true to his word.
There are no right responses.
There is only you, your ideas and the ability to hold yourself and keep clear sight on your goal.
You carry yourself in such a manner you ALWAYS hold the higher moral ground.
You carry yourself and decide in the best of interests for those whom you lead.
Even if it means you’ll have to disappoint a few or have to swallow pride.
This is what it means to be a leader, what it means to be “The Higher Man”.

Take care,

Dimitri
